Feeder / Forehearth Specialist Rotherham Monday–Friday, 5:30am–1:30pm (1:00pm finish on Fridays) £49,000 per annum A highly respected and innovative glass container manufacturer is seeking an experienced Feeder / Forehearth Specialist to join their expert Hot End team. About the Role As the Feeder / Forehearth Specialist, you will take responsibility for the optimisation, maintenance, and technical stability of the Feeder and Forehearth systems. You’ll ensure consistent gob quality, support production performance, and play a pivotal role in delivering high manufacturing standards. Key Responsibilities Lead by example in all Health & Safety practices. Optimise Forehearth combustion through scheduled maintenance of burners, inspirators, actuators and filters. Perform weekly air/gas mixture checks and ensure optimum combustion conditions. Record and analyse gas meter readings, initiating corrective actions where required. Monitor and maintain the Forehearth cooling system including lubrication, cleaning, linkages and filter management. Oversee contractor maintenance to ensure all work meets operational and safety standards. Complete thorough Forehearth structure cleans every three months. Conduct monthly checks and calibration of pyrometers and TCS control gear. Assess and record expendable components (tubes, needles, spouts). Support job change processes and provide cover for the Feeder Operator when required. Ensure feeder setup matches job card requirements and accurately record gob shape, temperature and drop. Photograph gob shape for run records and process consistency. Participate in technical problem-solving, continuous improvement and project work. Build competency in XPAR, Heye Process Controller and new Hot End technologies, and train colleagues where required. Support development and training of new and existing Hot End employees. What We’re Looking For Because this role requires advanced technical knowledge, the successful candidate must have experience in glass container manufacture, with strong understanding of: Hot End processes Gob formation Feeder and Forehearth operations IS Machine operations (essential requirement) We particularly welcome applications from individuals with recent or long-standing experience in UK glass container plants.
