HGV Mechanic Location: Leicester (LE9 Postcode) Job Type: Full-time, Temp Contract Hourly Rate: From £16.62 PAYE We are seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic to join our Transport Operations team. This role involves servicing and repairing vehicles and plant equipment in a safe, efficient, and economic manner, employing advanced skills and knowledge with due regard to current technical and health & safety legislation. Day-to-day of the role: Carry out a full range of technical checks and diagnostic tests on heavy goods and passenger transport vehicles. Perform routine inspections, service, and MOT of all vehicles and selected plant in the fleet according to schedules issued by the Workshop Manager. Report on mechanical and electrical vehicle components or systems defects, or impending failures. Carry out both mechanical and electrical repairs and/or adjustments as required under the instruction of the Senior Mechanic/Workshop Manager. Maintain a personal toolkit, special tools, and equipment in a good, safe, secure condition. Keep accurate records such as time sheets, work sheets, electronic records, and accident occurrence forms in accordance with policies and compliance procedures. Implement workshop schedules and loading to achieve maximum productivity as directed by the Workshop Manager. Required Skills & Qualifications: City & Guilds Qualified Technician. Experience in all aspects of heavy, light, and passenger vehicle repair and maintenance. Fleet workshop or garage experience. Valid UK Driving License. Willingness to work outside of normal working hours on a rota basis. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
