We are currently looking for a skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, to join a well-established engineering consultancy, in a permanent role. The Opportunity An established and highly regarded building services engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing London team. This is a newly created role driven by a strong pipeline of work in the data centre sector, with a clear focus on technically challenging and sustainability-led projects. The position offers a senior engineer the chance to take real ownership of mechanical design delivery, influence key technical decisions, and play a mentoring role within a collaborative, design-focused environment. The Role As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of mechanical building services systems from concept through to completion. You will work closely with multidisciplinary design teams and clients while helping to shape best practice and drive innovation across projects. This role is well suited to an engineer who enjoys hands-on technical work, client engagement, and supporting the development of junior engineers. Key Responsibilities Lead the mechanical design of HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, and domestic water services on complex building projects Prepare and review engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, and technical reports Use industry-standard design tools including Revit, AutoCAD, and IES to support design development and coordination Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and external consultants throughout all project stages Contribute to and deliver sustainable, low-energy, and low-carbon design solutions in line with client and regulatory requirements Attend client meetings, design team meetings, and site inspections as required Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior engineers Ensure compliance with UK building regulations, CIBSE guidance, and relevant industry standards About You Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering Proven experience in a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role within a building services consultancy Strong technical knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building systems Experience contributing to low-carbon and sustainable design strategies (heat pumps, energy-efficient systems, etc.) Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and building performance tools Confident communicator with experience working in multidisciplinary teams Working towards or holding Chartered Engineer status (CIBSE / IMechE) is advantageous Motivated by technical quality, innovation, and high-performance building design What’s on Offer Competitive salary of £50,000 – £55,000 Permanent role within a stable and growing consultancy Exposure to technically challenging and sustainability-driven projects Clear scope for progression and professional development Supportive and collaborative London-based team environment
