Business Development Manager Location:  East England (Easy access across the region) Sector:  Plastics Manufacturing / Building Materials / Merchant & Reseller Channels Job Type:  Full-time, Senior Salary:  Competitive salary + performance bonus We are looking for a Business development Manager for our client a leading plastics manufacturer dedicated to supplying high-quality products to builders’ merchants, distributors, and reseller networks across the UK. We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to spearhead their national growth strategy and cultivate a portfolio of national, regional, and independent accounts. This hands-on role blends strategic planning, channel development, and direct commercial execution. You will forge robust partnerships with merchant groups, buying groups, and independent resellers, driving our expansion and enhancing our market presence. Day-to-day of the role: Develop and implement a comprehensive national sales and business development strategy. Identify and establish new routes to market, reseller partnerships, and key accounts. Lead initiatives on pricing, margin development, and commercial policies. Craft compelling product positioning and value propositions tailored for merchant and trade channels. Provide precise forecasting, budgeting, and performance reporting to the management team. Manage key relationships with national and regional merchant groups and buying organisations. Secure national agreements and frameworks, and conduct negotiations and joint business planning. Represent the company at industry events and trade shows. Required Skills & Qualifications: Extensive senior-level sales experience in business development. Proven track record of success selling into builders’ merchants, distributors, or reseller networks. Demonstrated ability to drive national growth through multi-site accounts. Strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen. Experience in building materials and knowledge of merchant buying groups and branch networks is highly desirable. Proficiency in CRM and data-driven sales management.
