Job Role: Plant fitter - Workshop Based Location: Wellingborough Basic Salary: £45,000 + Overtime - Yearly earnings of £50,000 - £55,000 Working ours: 07:00 - 17:00 - Monday - Friday My client is a major player within the construction machinery sector. They are currently looking to add a new workshop based Plant Fitter to their growing team at their depot located in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. Key Responsibilities Carry out PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) on new machines and fit additional parts and attachments as required. Investigate, diagnose and resolve customer reports of technical problems with equipment. Perform general engineering duties, including working at height and beneath/within machines. Repair and maintain machinery using company-supplied lifting equipment. Drive and manoeuvre machines inside and outside of the workshop. Service a wide variety of machines within the workshop environment. Work independently to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. Complete job cards to a high standard within agreed timeframes. Complete all paperwork and timesheets accurately and promptly. Request parts efficiently and effectively. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers. Supervise other workshop engineers when required, ensuring high-quality workmanship and safe working practices. Provide cover for the Foreman during absence or annual leave. Assist with booking machines in and out of the workshop. Ensure machines are prepared and ready for transport/collection. Follow all relevant procedures when repairing and inspecting equipment. Ensure work and personal equipment complies with all safety standards. Manage warranty parts returns in line with company procedures. Comply with all company policies and procedures. Carry out all duties in accordance with the Company Health and Safety Policy. Contribute to the overall success of the business through teamwork and effective communication. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping within the workshop. Present a professional image at all times. Ensure personal tools are safe and compliant for use. Use only company-supplied lifting equipment (including straps, trolley jacks, etc.). Remain flexible and adaptable to all aspects of the role. Essential Requirements City & Guilds Level 2 in Plant Maintenance & Repair or equivalent OR recent hands-on experience working as a Plant Fitter Solid mechanical knowledge across diesel, hydraulics, and electrical systems Full UK driving licence Good problem-solving skills and a strong work ethic
