An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Construction Underwriter to join a well-established and highly respected renewals team within a leading insurer. This role can be based in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds or London This role focuses on managing and underwriting a broad portfolio of construction renewal business, working across a varied range of risks including electrical contractors, HVAC contractors, building services engineers, finishing trades, and general building contractors. The position offers exposure to a diverse product suite including cross-class liability, professional liability, and property, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their technical underwriting expertise within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment. The Opportunity You will be responsible for managing renewal cases, maintaining strong broker relationships, and delivering exceptional service while ensuring underwriting discipline and profitability. Key responsibilities include: Underwriting construction renewals within delegated authority Managing mid-term adjustments and referrals Building and maintaining strong broker relationships Working closely with technical teams and wider business functions Identifying opportunities to upsell and cross-sell additional covers Providing market insight and feedback on underwriting trends Supporting wider team initiatives and projects About You The ideal candidate will have: Previous construction underwriting experience Strong technical underwriting knowledge Excellent communication and relationship management skills Strong attention to detail and organisational skills Confidence managing broker relationships Good IT skills including MS Office Progress towards, or willingness to study for, CII qualifications This is a fantastic opportunity to join a people-focused business with an excellent reputation in the market and strong long-term career prospects.
