Job summary

We are recruiting for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join a fast moving manufacturing business where reliability, quality, and efficiency are critical to daily operations. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong mechanical assembly and fitting experience who can work from engineering drawings, support production targets, and help maintain high standards of safety and workmanship in a busy factory environment. Roles & Responsibilities Assemble, fit, and install mechanical components, machinery, and production equipment to specification. Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical instructions to complete builds accurately. Carry out mechanical repairs, adjustments, and fault finding to minimise downtime and keep production moving. Support planned maintenance, machine changeovers, and equipment improvement activities across the manufacturing operation. Use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and workshop machinery safely and effectively. Work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve mechanical issues quickly and efficiently. Ensure all work is completed to quality standards, within agreed timescales, and in line with health and safety procedures. Maintain accurate job records, report parts or tooling requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Proven experience in a Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Assembler, Maintenance Fitter, or similar manufacturing role. Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and technical documentation. Strong mechanical aptitude with experience of assembly, fitting, maintenance, and fault finding. Comfortable working in a fast paced manufacturing or production environment with changing priorities. Good understanding of health and safety requirements and safe systems of work. Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent engineering qualification would be advantageous.
