Plant Mechanic Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time Hourly Rate: From £14.83 PAYE (willing to discuss current market rate) Location: Leicester, LE9 Our Transport Operations team is looking for a skilled Plant Mechanic. This role involves servicing and repairing vehicles and plant equipment in a safe, efficient, and economic manner, with a strong adherence to current legislation. Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Drive and manoeuvre plant as necessary, including recovering defective or damaged plant and carrying out a full range of technical checks and diagnostic tests. Recognise and report on plant or system defects or potential failures, assessing, recording, and/or costing the repair as appropriate. Conduct routine inspections and services of all plant as part of operations according to schedules issued by the Stores Manager, ensuring compliance with prescribed quality standards. Interpret and implement technical service instruction data and manufacturers’ modifications. Maintain a personal toolkit and special tools and equipment in good, safe, and secure condition. Requisition replacement parts/materials from Stores as per the processes outlined by the Logistics Manager. Keep accurate records such as time sheets, work sheets, stores issue notes, and accident occurrence forms in line with policy. Implement workshop schedules and loading to achieve maximum productivity as directed by the Workshop Manager. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and promote equality of opportunity and good relations among all groups of people. Required Skills & Qualifications: NVQ level 3 qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent level of relevant experience. Valid Driver Licence. Proven experience in a fleet workshop or garage. Proficient in problem-solving and analysing information. Skilled in proactive planning and organisation. Familiarity with Microsoft Office software suite. Ability to work independently using own initiative. Extensive knowledge in all aspects of plant repair and maintenance, including self-propelled plant repairs.
