Hygienist Department: Production Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off, 6:00am – 6:00pm Salary: Very Competitive Contract: Permanent We are recruiting a Hygiene operative for a factory based in Milton Keynes. Role Purpose The Hygienist is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic manufacturing environment to support productivity, food safety, and minimal downtime across the production facility. The role ensures that all designated areas are cleaned and sanitised to the required standards in accordance with company procedures, hygiene requirements, and health and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities Carry out heavy cleaning duties including floor cleaning, washing walls and glass surfaces, and removing waste. Clean and sanitise restrooms, locker rooms, production areas, and communal spaces. Ensure all areas are maintained to audit-ready standards at all times. Remove and dispose of hazardous materials in line with safety regulations. Operate industrial cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, and power washers. Safely handle, store, and use cleaning chemicals according to procedures and safety data sheets. Correctly use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Maintain cleaning equipment and report any faults or maintenance requirements. Follow all Health, Safety, Environmental, Hygiene, and Good Housekeeping policies. Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others. Report hazards, incidents, unsafe conditions, or defects to management immediately. Follow procedures to prevent damage to equipment, floors, and fixtures. Monitor site safety and security, including locking areas where required. Complete cleaning tasks efficiently within the required timeframes. Maintain adequate stock levels of cleaning supplies and inform management when supplies are running low. Report cleaning deficiencies, hazards, or repair needs. Demonstrate flexibility to support different production areas when required. Work safely at all times and comply with site safety rules. Understand and follow COSHH and MSDS requirements. Correctly use PPE and industrial cleaning equipment. Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness. Understand the importance of hygiene within a manufacturing environment. Ensure compliance with both internal and external audit standards. Complete tasks efficiently and within required deadlines. Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to operational needs. Work independently with minimal supervision. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
