Our client, a well-established manufacturing organisation in Cramlington, Northumberland, is on the lookout for an experienced, hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to bolster their maintenance team. The Role: As an integral member of the site maintenance team, you will be responsible for the upkeep, repair, and enhancement of a diverse range of manufacturing equipment. This position is predominantly mechanical, with opportunities for basic electrical fault-finding as needed. While electrical skills are a bonus, they are not mandatory, and our client is committed to supporting your professional development in this area. Key Responsibilities: Perform planned and reactive mechanical maintenance. Diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns to minimise downtime. Work on mechanical systems including gearboxes, bearings, pumps, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Provide support for basic electrical fault-finding when required. Assist with the installation, modification, and improvement of machinery. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety standards. Collaborate with production teams to enhance site performance. What We're Looking For: Proven mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. A recognised mechanical qualification (e.g., apprenticeship, NVQ, HNC) or equivalent hands-on experience. Strong fault-finding skills and a practical, methodical approach. Basic electrical knowledge or a willingness to learn (desirable, not essential). Open to candidates currently titled Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Fitter, or Maintenance Technician. Personal Attributes: Hands-on and proactive. Reliable, safety-focused, and team-oriented. Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment. Eager to learn and continuously improve.
